How Dealops works

Dealops models the full commercial lifecycle of each customer, not just individual quotes. That's what makes complex motions — mid-term expansions, ramped multi-year deals, chained renewals — feel simple instead of bespoke.

The customer lifecycle model

Every customer relationship in Dealops is organized in three layers:

Account "Who is the customer"
└── Engagement "The ongoing commercial relationship"
├── Contract 1 (New Business)
│ ├── Head opportunity + quote
│ └── Expansion / amendment opportunities
├── Contract 2 (Renewal)
│ └── ...
└── Contract 3 (Renewal, upcoming)

Account

The persistent customer record. Accounts survive churn and reactivation, and typically map 1:1 to an account in your CRM.

Engagement

The active commercial relationship with an account. An engagement spans one or more contract terms and carries lifetime metrics — total contract value, ARR trajectory, and net expansion across renewals.

Contract

A single negotiated term within an engagement (for example, the initial 12-month deal, then each renewal term after it). Contracts form an ordered chain: new business → renewal → renewal. Each contract contains:

  • A head opportunity — the new business or renewal deal that started the term.
  • Any number of expansion or amendment opportunities closed during the term.

Only one contract is active at a time, but an upcoming renewal can be staged alongside it, so renewal conversations can start well before the current term ends.

Opportunity

A deal being worked, usually synced from your CRM. Dealops enriches each opportunity with account context, deal history, and pricing guidance.

Quote

The priced proposal for an opportunity: products, volumes, prices, terms, and commitments. An opportunity can hold multiple quotes — grouped into proposals so you can present a customer several options side by side — with one quote marked as primary.

Why the model matters

Because Dealops knows the whole chain, it can:

  • Seed renewals automatically from the true end-state of the prior contract — the original deal plus every expansion signed along the way. See Renewals.
  • Co-term expansions to the active contract so mid-term additions line up with the existing term. See Expansions & amendments.
  • Track expansion and contraction accurately across the relationship, not just per deal.
  • Keep downstream systems in sync — CRM fields, billing contracts, and signature workflows all hang off the same lifecycle. See Integrations.
