Discounts & price guidance

Dealops separates what the price should be from what the rep negotiates, and makes the gap between them visible, measurable, and governable.

Three price points per line

PriceWhat it isWho controls it
List priceThe reference price from your catalog, per pricebook and currencyAdmins
Target priceOptional guidance for this deal — what the price should land at given deal contextAdmins (rules)
Quote priceWhat the rep actually offersThe rep, within guardrails

Reps see list and target alongside the field they're editing, with the implied discount calculated live. Lines can also be locked read-only where negotiation isn't allowed (carried-over renewal items, fixed-price SKUs).

Discount thresholds and approvals

Discounts are governed by thresholds that map to approval workflows. A typical configuration:

DiscountWhat happens
0 – 10%No approval needed
10 – 20%Routes to sales management
20%+Routes to finance / VP

Thresholds can be set per product, per category, or deal-wide, so a sensitive SKU can carry tighter guardrails than the rest of the catalog. The deal summary flags which thresholds a quote will trip before the rep submits.

Deal-level discounts

Beyond per-line pricing, Dealops supports discounts driven by deal shape — most commonly term length and deal size (for example, multi-year agreements earning a standard deal-wide discount). These are computed from your configured policy and itemized in the deal summary, so the "why" behind the final number stays legible.

Price guidance in context

Guidance is most useful when it reflects the deal, not just the catalog. Dealops can factor deal context — customer segment, committed volume, term — into target prices, and surfaces relevant precedents: what similar customers paid, and what was previously approved for this account. Organizations using Dealops AI quoting additionally get suggested volumes and prices with explicit reasoning and confidence, which reps can accept or override.

Measuring discount health

Because every quote records list, target, and negotiated prices, discount reporting comes for free: effective discount per line, per category, and per deal, comparable across reps, segments, and time. Renewals additionally report price change against the prior contract. See Renewals.
